Today I finally got around to putting together a plugin for mozilla that will search [thelist] archives at Evolt.org. Nothing fancy, but it works and will save me some time. Maybe it’ll help a few others as well.

Install Evolt search plugin

If you have any problems, let me know. Or you can install it from the Mozilla MyCroft site.

I recently joined another online community site called Christian Connect. While participating in a debate of sorts on the origins of everything, a seemingly agnostic fellow made a comment that stuck with me. He stated

Creationists are in the business of trying to disprove evolution, but never disclose their evidence for their hypotheses. Do you believe that if creationists ever find a way to disprove evolution, that it (creationism) wins by default?

As is often the case, I thought about this for a week or so before taking the time to start researching anything. But once I got going I noticed a couple things. First off, I learned that no longer is the debate primarily between evolution and creation, but that there is now a new contender called intelligent design. Prior to doing a bit of research I had assumed that creation and intelligent design were the same, but I find now that they are, in fact, very different in certain areas.

I recently was accepted into the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta program. I’m hoping that it will provide some much needed increase in revenues from my mortgage knowledge base website. I actually wanted to run the yahoo ads simultaneously with the google ads but both companies prohibit that.

Right now I’ve got three ad spots on the site. Top, bottom, and left side. Over the last month it seems the top banner spot is generating the most clicks. But I’m still not getting the $100+ per month I used to make off google. I’m starting to think drupal, as compared to my original template, may be the cause for the drop in ad clicks. What I think would work great would be if there was a way I could get drupal to insert the ad code directly into the articles every couple paragraphs.

I just come across the article FEMA suspends Phoenix’s rescue team over firearms rule and I have to say that I can’t believe how ungrateful and just ignorant FEMA is. To ask these search and rescue teams to go into conditions such as those seen in New Orleans this past month and then to get their feathers ruffled because a team took some security? I can’t believe that FEMA honestly wants these search and rescue teams to go into these areas unarmed!

“Phoenix officials are threatening to refuse deployments in the future or possibly pull out of the federal agency altogether unless the rules are changed to allow teams to bring their own security, even if that means police with guns.”

I’ve read a handful of articles this morning on the topic and I must say that I’m with Phoenix on this one. If FEMA can’t see the logic of allowing a team to take armed escorts (U.S. Marshals no less!!) then why even deal with FEMA? Tell the bureaucrats to give off their arse and go pluck people from roof tops themselves.

Sound off folks, let me know you’re out there.
