A while back I announced my switch from Google Adsense to the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta on my Mortgage Knowledgebase website. After checking my stats this evening and comparing the two, I wanted to share my limited findings. Keep in mind that these ads were not ran concurrently because both publishers prohibit it. I’ve ran Yahoo! Publisher Network beta for twenty-nine days now and compared it to the last twenty-nine days that I ran Google Adsense, then went a step further and compare it to the last eighty days that I ran Google Adsense.
| Ad System | Average Daily Page Views |
Average CTR |
| Yahoo! Publisher Network beta | 77.5 | 0.2% |
| Google Adsense 29 Day | 25 | 4.0% |
| Google Adsense 80 Day | 22 | 4.8% |
Some other interesting stats that I found was that the ad block on the left side was generating more than the one on the top. I had expected the reverse to be true. However, it came as no surprise that the ad block on the bottom did poorly no matter what ad network was being used.
I gathered some other figures, but I’m leery of posting much out in the open as both publishers seem to want to keep their rate of pay a bit secretive. I will say that in my very limited experiences Yahoo paid more per click than Google, but due to the extremely low click rate generated during the Yahoo test it appears that I’m still better off sticking with Google.
I’ll probably switch the ads out and put Google Adsense ads back in place, sans the bottom ad group. I feel that it should be noted that LinkWorth is still my biggest source of income in regards to the Mortgage Knowledgebase website though.
