A couple days ago I get an instant message from my wife about a website she had just found called LostCherry.com. When I got the URL I was wondering if it was something I should be looking at.
My wife assured me that it was just a myspace alternative. After taking a spin through the site I’ve got to admit, I love it.
I’ve got profiles on myspace, tagworld, friendster, linkedin, and a couple others. I’ve never said more than just a couple words to anyone on any of these sites. Within just a couple days on LostCherry (or LC as it’s called) I’ve had actual intelligent conversations with several people.
So, while I was bouncing around on LC today, there was talk of an article that was written about it. So I went over to digg.com to see what was being said. The article itself talked about what LostCherry had that myspace didn’t, and what LC was doing right that myspace wasn’t. It seemed that the comments were divided into 3 areas: 1) people who would rather run down LC than give it a shot, usually making fun of the name 2) those who gave it a shot and loved it 3) and one person (as of my last reading) who tried it and didn’t like it.
Is LostCherry for everyone? No site will ever please everyone. But LC has a lot to offer. Can it be a bit risque? For sure, but there are safeguards in place to keep you from being accidentally expose to some content that you don’t work, and those safeguards appear to be working fairly well.
