Yes, I forgot to blog about day # 4. So here it is, my Thursday and Friday combined and condensed.

On Thursday I went back by the company that I was suppose to have dropped in on Wed afternoon (which was originally a Monday appointment) and signed him up. After that it was nothing but tire kickers Thursday. Seems that there must people a couple other reps making rounds because everyone I talk to is comparing rate proposals from other companies.

Friday started on the slow side. My first appointment went really well and I think I will sign the guy next week, but he (like everyone else) had several proposals from other companies and wanted time to compare. This afternoon I signed a trophy store. The store has three location and I was trying for all of them, but the owner was only willing to give me the go ahead on one of them.

So, for my first week I closed three deals. That puts me at a 19% closing rate. My manager’s goal for me right now is to hit 30%. So, that’s what I’ll do next week I guess. :D

Day 3 started off a little rocky. Right off the bat, my cell phone dies. I had to grab an old spare and swap the sim cards. My first appointment was a total bust. As I walked through the door the business owner glares at me and starts yelling about not having time and that we were going to have to cancel. I looked at him and told him that I was pretty busy but that I could work him in somewhere around 2 or 3 this afternoon. He paused and stared at me. I asked if 3 sounded good. He just nodded his head. So out the door I went.

Okay folks, I’ve survived day one. ;) AmeriBanc kept their word and had four appointments ready for me. The end result? I get to go back to two of them Wednesday, one was a flat NO and the other one is still on the fence. Keep reading for the book version of each.

Well, I made it to training and back. I ended up having to rent a car to drive because my pickup blew a head gasket. The cheapest quote I’ve gotten so far has been $800 and that’s only if the head isn’t cracked or warped. So, I’ve invested $180 into this new job before I even started training. But they did put me up in a nice hotel suite there in Orlando. (On a side note: If anyone feels like donating $$$ to the “Jeremy needs another vehicle for work” Fund, please contact me)

In my last post about AmeriBanc I didn’t go into much detail about the job. That’s because I really wasn’t sure what all I’d be doing. Now that I know a bit more I’ll share it with the world. Basically, as I see it, I’m a closer. They spend tens of thousands a month running a call center where their telemarketers annoy people into agreeing to a free consultation provided by me. Now, let’s see if I can get through the rest of this without sounding too much like a salesman. :D
