Brad, I believe I see where you're coming from, because the Bible doesn't clearly state if both the sin and punishment is made public or just the punishment. My opinion (stress opinion) is that if the punishment was the only thing made public, then how is it that thousands of years later we're still reading the story of how David committed adultery and then murder to hide the adultery?

I agree that God does not embarrass people into righteousness. But I do feel (again, my opinion) that because God knows where the sin will lead that He will allow the devil to pull the secrets out into the open if we continually refuse to heed the leading of the Holy Spirit and repent in order to prevent an even worse incident further down the road. Again, the point isn't to embarrass but rather protection from something worse.

Of course it is entirely possible that I'm wrong, but for now I'm sticking by my opinion.

On a side note, I got a chuckle out of your post about Senator Craig; good writing.

You're taking II Samuel out of context. This isn't at all what it is about.

God says through Nathan that the thing David did was in secret, but the punishment that God brings will be public. God does not intend to bring David's secret to the public eye, only his punishment.

God does not embarrass people into righteousness. He loves them.

Please read the sentence before and after before using Bible scriptures, for the good of us all.

I don't intend to be judgmental, but only to speak what is real.
