I’ve only attempted a few poems my entire life, but the following was rolling around in my head this morning as I was praying so I felt I needed to share it. Hope you like it.

Here I stand looking at my map,
wondering what else lies ahead.
The treasure I seek is a closeness to my spouse
that has long since vanished.
My map is nothing more than inconsistencies and suspicions,
lies that must be untangled.
The dangers that I face are painful and many,
secret sins that have killed many marriages.
And though I’m already wounded from this fight,
and I fear and wonder how many other enemies lie ahead,
I must continue onward in my quest for this priceless treasure.
My heart tells me that I must be close,
My mind warns me that there could be more secrets lying in wait.
I bend my knee in prayer, ‘God give me strength’ and must continue on.

So I leave this note for those who must walk a similar road.
Only those who walk in love will ever make it to the end.
Many times you will be tempted to give up, to retreat.
The enemy of doubt will attack repeatedly.
But if you press on and continue the journey,
you too will find the joy of a marriage with no secrets.
My parting thought I leave to you is this:
no matter how painful it gets,
remember that God is on your side
and if you fix you gaze on Him
rather than the problems you face,
You will find the treasure that you seek.
It’s only a matter of time.

Sometimes I wonder if I should have hung around Helena-West Helena a bit longer. I really do miss being a police officer and I miss some of the people there. But recent events have reminded me of why I left in the first place, political chaos. As reported by the AP, Crime-ridden Arkansas town expands 24-hour curfew. Yep, the city counsel has voted unanimously to impose a city-wide curfew (seems more like martial law to me).

This is nuts! And, with great sadness I have to actually agree with a ACLU lawyer. There’s no way I feel this can be legal. And I really feel bad for the officers. They’re in a situation where they either lose their job or do something they’ll probably get sued over.

And to think, a couple years ago the citizens of the towns of Helena and West Helena thought it was a good idea to merge the cities. Yeah, I miss law enforcement, but I definitely don’t miss The Nation of Phillips County, Arkansas.

Well, actually my company is. Effective today, Blue Phoenix Consulting, LLC is a MySQL Enterprise Ready Partner. Even got a listing on their site and everything. I know, it probably sounds lame to most of ya, but this is huge from where I’m standing. It’s one more thing I can point at to add validity to my company. It’s one more step in my march toward global conquest!!
